Reality Check

This week was a little scary for our family. Braylea has a cousin due in June but he almost came Wednesday morning instead. My cousin, Kari, woke up around midnight and discovered that her water broke. She rushed out to the hospital and they ambulanced her to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita to stay for the duration of her pregnancy. They told her that if they would have kept her in Parsons that they would have had to deliver within 48 hours because of the technology they are lacking to keep her pregnant. I had always heard that if your water broke, you had to deliver but thank God for modern technology and doctors. Kari is on strick bed rest in the hospital to try to keep her pregnant for 6 more weeks. If she makes it then, they will induce. She will be 34 weeks then. They gave her steroid shots to help stimulate the development of Baby Kamden's lungs. We are all praying that he stays put for that period of time so the NICU stay for him won't be as long as it could be if he came now. So far Kamden's heart rate and oxygen have been great. As long as those stay stable and Kari does not develop an infection, everything should go as planned. We all know she is in good hands from the doctors she has and from the Man upstairs.

I'm thinking about Kari! Bless her heart. You're right thank goodness for modern medicine...and I'm glad she went ahead and went to Wichita!
